This wooden pin looks more like a tree branch than a manufactured item. Though crude, it indeed was the pin for the small Goodyear hat insulator. The pins I have of this type appear to have been whittled to the proper size for a friction fit into the insulator. The pin was located at the top of the pole by setting the pin into a hole drilled into the pole top.
