I'm cutting the gain for the communication arm in the second pole after drilling the holes for the cross arms. Most utilitys use plastic gains but this is old school. A hand saw and screw driver for a chisel. The gain for a communication cross arm is 4" wide and for power cross arm is 4 1/2" wide. Both are 1/2" deep.
