I was just going through a couple of my "dearest" B No. 44 CD 145s, most of which were picked by hand over the course of the past 7 or 8 years of collecting, when it occurred to me that I really don't need to be hogging all these beautiful pieces to myself - I ought to pass some along to someone who will appreciate them. So, here is one.

Up for grabs is a piece quite exceptional in all of crudeness, colour, impurities, and to a fair extent, condition. The piece in question is a B No. 44 CD 145, that is the [070] embossing style, and one of Brookfield's last production items. This one has the rounded base, with the {MLOB} designation. You can tell Brookfield was more or less giving up on quality in favour of producing more insulators by the time this one was made, as very little is right with it. The glass is absolutely laced with fine amber wisps throughout the insulator. I believe the photo shows them quite well. There are also bubbles and chunks of white fire brick all throughout the piece. The pinhole is off centre to the left (somewhat visible in this photo), and as an added bonus, the insulator is slumped, with a wiregroove that is much narrower than a piece like this would normally have. This one has the mould number '6' below "No. 44" on the rear.

The condition of the piece is reasonable, with one 3/8" long by 3/16" tall upper wire ridge chip on the right side, and a little bit of the normal, inner base edge nibbling. This includes areas of "nibbling" or tiny "fan cracks" approximately 3/8" long (front base, centre), 7/8" long (front base, near right mould line), and 1/2" long (rear base, near left mould line). All in all, the condition of this piece is average, or slightly above average for one of these. The inner base edge nibbling is common, as due to the rounded base, the inner edge is very, very fine, and prone to chipping. There is also one inner skirt annealing crack that has spread apart in the rear base. This is from manufacture, and shouldn't be considered damage.

I'm asking $23.00 U.S. plus shipping for this junker of a piece. I know you'll enjoy it! I accept personal cheques from any member of ICON, or anyone I've dealt with before. Please feel free to email me with any questions, or for more photos. Also, please check out my "unsold" stock in the "Not Sold" folder, and combine multiple purchases to save shipping! All the best!
