A rather unusual phenomenon that occurs in these bits of glass we know so well is unmelted scrap glass from the manufacturing process making it's way into the glass batch. Amber tadpoles, and cullet patches sometimes result from the fact. This piece, to say the least, is rather unusual, itself, and for exactly that reason. The piece is one dark olive green Diamond CD 102, with a dome completely covered in unmelted bits and pieces of scrap, or cullet, glass. It appears this one was either made towards the beginning of production on the particular day it was made, or someone threw some scrap glass chips in the mould before it was poured. Either way, the dome top is white in colour with rough, cullet glass. The insulator's embossing style is [060], and it sports a large, crude diamond embossed on the front, and nothing else. The condition of the piece is respectable, with two flat base flakes on the rear base, right behind the left mould line, measuring 3/8" by 3/16" and 1/4" by 3/16", respectively. There is also one tiny 1/8" by 3/16" flat base flake on the front base, just to the right of the diamond. Short of this, there is some scratching in the front wire groove, and a little more on the rear dome. I'm asking $5.00 U.S. plus shipping for this very unique insulator! I accept personal cheques from any member of ICON, or anyone I've dealt with before. Please feel free to email me with any questions, or for more photos. Also, please check out my "unsold" stock in the "Not Sold" folder, and combine multiple purchases to save shipping! All the best! |
