Large stately house that stood (maybe it still does) along one of the tree-lined streets of Independence, IA circa 1905. These were the type of houses that had nearly nine-foot-high ceilings, walls made of real horse plaster, built upon real 2 by 4's (to start!) and solid rock foundations. Further, the attic and basement areas of these homes were commonly so large and grandeur that they could easily be part of the living space! |
