Here are the two dudes responsible for "foraging" most of the known CD 134 amber T-HE insulators in the hobby. Nearly all were on fire alarm circuits in Abington and Rockland, MA. Phil was a lineman and he did the climbing/insulator-exchange. I did the previous "scouting" so we could map a tour to get-em-all. About 35-40 amber T-HE's are known in the hobby in varying states of condition. That was in 1970. Very soon thereafter we extended our fire alarm excursions to other towns in southeast MA. We were able to replace all sorts of cool glass (including colored Diamond-P's) with more modern clear glass pintypes. I can safely say that the majority of So. Mass. Tel. Co., Fall River Police Signal and City Fire Alarm insulators have passed through our hands as a result of our fondly remembered collecting (or "clear insulator upgrade") adventures ;-). Phil, about 82 years young, recalls these adventures as well (if not better!) than I do. |
