Here is another example of a surviving veteran of the famous Boston Elevated Orange Line that was opened to the public in 1899 and closed in 1987. Demolition began in 1988 and the contractors doing the demo work saved many of the glass insulators for me and a couple other interested collectors (for quite a fee, I must say...)

CD 267 and CD 267.5 insulators were used along this eight-mile line, albeit in few locations. As far as the unmarked and No. 4 Cable embossed CD 267s were concerned, they survived a lot better than their much more fragile N.E.G.M. counterparts. The majority of the latter were found cracked, bruised and chipped. Most of the section had large white dry-process porcelain cleats whereby the heavy 1 to 1.5 inch diameter copper stranded cable carrying 600VDC were laid. Some of these cleats were used as part of the original construction and in other places as replacements. In some locations the (four) cables laid bare upon their large wooden trusses from raids by so-called collectors in 1975 when the juice was shut off overnight for maintenence.

At any rate, History Lesson #2 for tonight is over! This piece has resided on my shelf since 1988 (except for this wintertime photo as seen). It is in superb condition and I'd judge it NM-VNM. Offered at $255 and that includes Priority shipping and insurance to your US destination.
