Here's another goodie right off my shelf (insulator photographed last winter as you can see ;-). I've owned it since 1988 and it was recovered by the demolition contractors dismantling the famous 1899 Boston Elevated Railway Orange Line. I got to actually see a lot of the insulators that were retrieved from this job and I can honestly say the vast majority of the No.4 Cables were plain Jane aqua (most likely Brookfields). A very small percentage were dark greenish-aqua like the one shown. FYI...there were about an equal number of unembossed CD 267s compared to marked No. 4 Cables and the darker ones were very predominantly found with the No.4 Cable embossing. There were about 25 unmarked CD 267s altogether compared to the 25 No. 4 Cable-lettered ones. Okay, history lesson for tonite is over! This insulator is el-primo (should I say MINT?) condition with no defects. The only "abnormalies" would be a slight flat area on the side of one of the ears most likely due to molding. From there there is nearly invisible cable groove and base-rim scuffing. A highly underrated piece!! Offered for $215 and that includes Priority shipping and insurance. A second photo of this very nice piece follows. Thanks, Joe Maurath, Jr. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ |
