This multi-crossarm pole line apparently was deviod of insulators, likely under construction when this photo was taken. Or (much less likely) the insulators did not show up in the picture (or were they Wades?). At any rate this is a classic photograph exemplifying early telegraph line construction as these pioneer lines were built in U.S. cities during the early days of the telegraph. Note the two-lag screw crossarm mounting and the line furher back on the right (on the street corner) that clearly was outfitted with pintype insulators.
