Among the vast majority of CD 267 and CD 267.5 insulators that were "saved" by the Orange Line El (Boston) demolition job contractors this is the only "extended inner skirt" CD 267 that I have seen...and ever seen/or heard of in existance since the demo job in 1988. I and a couple other local collectors purchased whatever glass insulators were available as the contractors dismantled the famous overhead transit line, built in 1899.

As you can see this piece is a real oddity. There is a small "flange" around the inside of the outer skirt which survived perfectly through the years. Overall, the insulator is at least VVNM...the only defects are a small potstone with a minor "star" around it in one of the ears (see photo) and a tiny whitish flake on the inner skirt base rim. It is entirely possible the insulator was made this way.

The vast majority of No. 4 Cable insulators revovered from this line were light aqua. Few were as dark as this one. The insulator offered is one old heavy-piece-o-glass with some nice little bubbles throughout it. There are extremely minor evidence of cable wear. Overall, this insulator could be considered in virtual as-made condition. Not bad after 90 years of tough service!

Offered for a very reasonable $550.00 which includes USPS Priority shipping and insurance to your US destination. This insulator has been on my shelf for 19 years and time has come to pass it onto another enthusiastic collector.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask at any time.

Sincerely,

Joe Maurath, Jr.
