Also available this evening is this amazingly crude CANADIAN PACIFIC RY CO CD 143 in an equally amazing colour! The insulator in question is the piece on the right, with a more common light green example for comparison. It's embossing style is [060], with the small, very thin letters all squeezed onto the front skirt, and it's most unusual colour is what is listed as "Light Yellow Green". This piece is a little bit different, though, as the thick, crude glass is absolutely filled with zillions of tiny micro bubbles (send me an email if you'd like to see a photo of the impressive number of bubbles!), and the surface of the insulator is completely whittled, so that some of the letters are even obscured! The insulator has a solid 1" of dome glass, and the base of the threads has a most incredible swirl-start that just magnifies the crudity! There is also a 1 1/2" long "smilie"-shaped bubble in the right side of the insulator. And, one more thing - a medium sized 1/4" potstone in the rear skirt that is right at the edge of the glass, and can actually be touched! In short, with the overwhelming crudity, tough and beautiful colour, and reasonable condition, this is one awesome insulator! The condition is reasonable, as mentioned, but unfortunately it's not as good as it could be. There is a 2" long flat base flake with a 3/4" long fan crack sprouting from it. There is a 1/4" by 1/4" flat upper wire ridge chip on the left side. There is also a nearly invisible 1/4" fisheye on the front crown, and an area about 3/4" long by 3/8" wide on the rear dome with a large number of fisheyes overlapping each other. All in all, considering the character of the piece, it isn't a bad example at all - actually a rather good one! I'm asking $26.00 U.S. plus shipping for this awesome piece! I'll throw in the light green example on the left, which is in good shape with just a few small base flakes and some minor wire groove flaking in the rear, for another $6.00. I accept personal cheques from any member of ICON, or anyone I've dealt with before. Please feel free to email me with any questions, or for more photos (especially of the many, many microbubbles)! All the best! |
