This original Lapp photo No. 905 was taken in the early 1930's. The label on the back reads: No. 6474 Fog Pin Type on Iowa Ry. & Lt. Co. at 33 kv, Marshalltown, IA. Year test, without cleaning, showed no flashover; standard insulators very bad, necessitating washing about 6 times per year. Note following contamination: 1. Gas plant; 2. Power house stacks; 3. Spray pond; 4. R. R. switch nearby & main line C. & N. W. - 7 tracks beyond bldgs. to right.
