These may be the last of these from the old I & O (Indiana and Ohio) Railroad that ran into Cincinati from Indiana. These were found at the bottom of a brush pile along the tracks by a crossing. The crossbar was sticking out of the dirt and the insulators were mostly in the dirt still on the pins. Had to move a lot of debris, brush and trash until I was able to pry the crossarm out of the dirt. To my disappointment, two 45's and four 42's appeared dirt covered and broken. Dug the other end out to find two more 42's, dirt covered but intact but not worth the effort to...wait a minute, what color are those? Green? Whoa! So against the norm, the dead commons were whacked and the worthwhile ones weren't. I've had these for a long time just because of finding them this way. So now it's time to part with them. They are both VVNM with a few nicked drips, some pings and one has a tiny flake under the top wire ridge in the back. Most likely being deeper in the dirt protected them. The color is not 7-up and not deep enough to be forest but a true green. $30 POST PAID for the pair. Thanks for looking! |
