Also available for the betterment of your CD 145 collection (we all have one, admit it!) is this awesome amber-tadpole'd New England Glass Manufacturing Company CD 145. Although not in the best of condition, it is an exceptional example in what the glass it is made of contains.

Looking at the piece, you will find, before anything else, that is is a standard light aqua sort of colouration, that it sits of average height and heftiness of glass, but most importantly, that it has a HUGE AMBER POLYWOG in the dome! The polywog swirls180 degrees around, and measures approximately 2" in length. It is well placed, and really is one of the more exceptional such polywogs I have seen. Then one would notice the presence of yet another unusual foreign inclusion in the glass - a white/brown chunk of potstone/amber about halfway down the dome on the right side of the insulator. There is another little chunk of this potstone like stuff in the front dome. And, finally, there is quite a bit of amber wisping around the tail of the polywog in the dome, as well as some running down the rear dome into the skirt, where yet another small amber blob rests near the base of the threads - since the 2" long amphibian spawn wasn't enough.

The only problem with this piece, therefore, is the damage! Of course, of course - the really good one happens to be the one I found in an area whose soil contains a larger than average quantity of rocks. Yes, this piece appears to have landed on one or more of them. There are three 1/8" pings on the rear, right side - two just above the wire ridge, and the other just below it. There is also a 1/4" by 1/4" flake off the upper wire ridge on the front, left side. The real whopper, though, is the crack running from the front skirt, into the rear. Fortunately, it runs flat along the front base edge, so that it isn't very visible from the front skirt. However, once it is picked up... well, you can see from the photo. It is roughly 3" long in total, and is the one major distraction from how nice the piece is.

In light of the damage, I'm asking $15 U.S. plus shipping for what would otherwise be a prime example of one such amber polywog in any insulator. I accept personal cheques from any member of ICON, or anyone I've dealt with before. Feel free to email with any questions, or for more photos!

How about $6 U.S. plus shipping?
