Given the fact that there were several glass works in Pennsylvania around the 1900 who produced insulators on a rather small scale (compared to Hemingray and Brookfield for instance) ...one can only imagine what rarities supported the open-wire circuits as seen in this photo!

Of further interest, note the arc light that once illuminated this community's downtown intersection. A pulley mechanism can readily be seen above the fixture that was attached to an adjacent pole for lowering for periodic arc lamp maintenance.
