I am selling my collection of San Franscisco wooden trolleys. These were installed just after the great earthquake that almost leveled the town in 1906. The story is well documented in the book Wood Amongest the Wires. This is a very nicely grained piece made from the ligum vitae heartwood. The heartwood was always the darkest and strongest of the ligum vitae tree. The rubbing of the cable in the saddle groove has made some nice ridges. The grain is bascially vertically striated. The base is the convex variety (only one of two I have in my collection). I can send additional photos. I will have the entire collection at Columbia City next weekend so if you are interested in sometihng let me know. Price on this piece is $250 shipped.
