There probably were oodles of these blue-on-white porcelain-enameled signs upon telephone poles during their day. Most I have seen to date in old photos like this one have been on buildings. I am not sure if this was in a Bell System community. Anyway, here is a great street scene depicting how we communicated and lived 108 years ago!
