Good day! For your consideration this afternoon is a piece quite unusual to find here on Ontario. It seems Hemingray exported the odd early piece to the north back in the day, because these Hemingray blue H.G.Co.s tend to turn up in the west and in Ontario occasionally. The piece in question is a very much unlisted [130] H.G.Co. CD 162, with the transition embossing, and the missing bar in the "A" of "MAY", and in a very lovely Hemingray blue. This is very likely a tough or rare piece! Hemingray blue in the normal [080] Transition mould lists at well over $100, I can imagine this unlisted [130] is an even harder find! The condition on the piece is the real issue! As I acquired it from a fellow who had the insulator sitting loose in a box, it likely sustained much of the damage it has from rolling around against common Dominion - 42s. Figures they were all mint condition. Anyways, the damage report: The most severe damage is a 2" long fan crack on the right side, starting beneathe the '1893' embossing, and continuing into the back skirt. There are 6 of the huge, crudely machined drip points chipped off at least half way (two beneathe "MAY 2", and the others on the side, or rear), and one more drip with just a slice off it's side (beside the right mould line). There are also three pings on the front of the insulator - one on the front crown, 1/8" in diametre, and two directly side by side above the first P in "PATENT" - these collectively measuring 5/16" by 3/8" in area. I'm asking $55 U.S. plus shipping for this unusual piece worthy of any H.G.Co. signal collection for certain! I accept personal cheques from any member of ICON, or anyone I've dealt with before. |
