I admittedly don't know my porcelain as well as I'd like, but up for grabs is a grouping of three pieces I would not hesitate to add to my collection, if I didn't already have similar pieces myself. These are three mottled blue Canadian porcelain blue uniparts, native to the power lines of South-Western Ontario, and made in Hamilton, Ontario, at the Canadian Porcelain factory site (now residing underneath a subdivision, it's obvious none of these will be made again). the black inkstamp of a "P" inside a "C" is present on all three. I don't know the U-#s, but I'm sure they could be easily enough acquired through companionship with a seasoned mud collector, of which there are many! The cable top on the left is probably the nicest - VVVNM condition, and a lovely mottled blue glaze with pretty severe colour separation in places, as well as a few bare spots along the outer base edge for extra character. The middle piece is nearly as nice in colour separation and mottling, though slightly lighter overall. This one has a 1/2" glaze chip on the underside of the left ear. It's not visible from any ordinary angle, as it is on the under hanging lower edge. The signal, the piece on the far right, is the lightest in colouration, but shares similar mottling to the other two pieces. The extra thick glaze globs on the bottom of the outer skirt, and the angled ink stamp marking give a few indications of just how boring it likely would have been working in a factory of the magnitude of Canadian Porcelain. You likely would have grown dreary of the monotony of manufacturing and glazing porcelain insulators after a while. Why not add a splash of Canadian "summer sky blue" to your chocolate brown porcelain lineup? I'm asking $12. U.S. plus shipping for the group of 3 uniparts. I accept personal cheques from any member of ICON, or anyone I've dealt with before. All the best! |
