Looking at my watch and also the sky I figured it would be dark enough to climb the very high pole at 9 PM. At that exact time I headed for this pole with four cross. The last nearly fifty feet above the ground. Earlier I had though maybe a passing train might mask my presence so that nobody living in the neighborhood would hear me. As I reached the foot of my now or never terror wouldn't you know it? Right on schedule three CSX engines rushed by me hauling their long load. I scrambled up this long ago pine tree and had wished I could have recalled my wish of a train going by to mask any noise I might make. The pole shook and I prayed it would not sway too much and fall with me on it. Thank God that didn't happen. I sure wouldn't have wanted any attention I would have drawn if that were to happen. That is if I lived to tell my story. Anyway, nobody heard me go up or down. There was a man who came out and sat out on his front porch. But I didn't worry about him all that much. I was more concerned about holding on and getting my objections into my pouch. Did I mention that I didn't trust those old cross arms very much? Well I didn't. One was kind of on the lose side so I made a mental note not to depend on it very much and to get back down to earth as quickly as possible. That time came after putting these three Brookfield CD 152's in my black bag held onto my side with my belt. I'm sure I would have filled that bag with many more insulators if I had felt secure and I'm sure I left a few good ones for the next brave or stupid soul. The three insulators here are yellow greens with tons of amber swirls. Very pretty. Sorry if my camera once again didn't capture to true beauty for you all to see. It did capture my pink insulation friend however!! |
