I purchased this insulator about a year and a half ago and have never been able to figure out its authenticity. It is a CD 143 [040] No embossing {MLOD} RB in what can only be described as what the book calls "blue purple". Now I have been burned with a nuked 143 Can Pac prior to this, but that thing glowed blue and was almost black glass. I know that insulators will return to there original colour if left in the sun, so I put this one in my window for the last 6 months. It has not changed, but that could be because I live in the north and don't get adequate sun to reverse the process. I took it to one show and a couple of the people said it looked real to them. I still can't make up my mind if something has been done to this insulator or not. It has a dull finish "like it was in the ground" for some time. In the picture I sandwiched it between a royal purple Can Pac and diamond for comparison. The real colour shows well. If ANYONE out there has a real, confirmed, "blue purple" CD 143, could you please send me a picture or two of it for comparison to mine. Any help on this bizarre colour would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Les Berkes. |
