Pulled this one down today. Pretty certain it is a CD 170, but it is too short. It is exactly the height given for a CD 170.1, but it is too narrow for that. (It doesn't match 170 width either...) But I think the dome looks more like the 170 drawing, so that's what I'm going with, unless I am told otherwise. :) The upper wire lip is "funny", with a distinct bevel, there is a prominent "teat" at the top of the pinhole, and there is this strange skirt band. That's about it for distinguishing characteristics. I'd mention that it is unembossed, but I see that the PG lists all 170 and 170.1 that way.

My question is more about this skirt band, which looks like it could be a blot-out or slug plate, 1/2 inch high, that completely encircles the piece, starting 3/16 inch up the skirt. Does anyone have a similar piece that would like to comment? On the skirt above this band, and in the wire groove, there is a significant amount of orange peel, but this band is tooled nearly smooth, with hundreds of microstriations, sort of like lathe marks.

So yeah, opinions please. Circumferential blot out, or mold tooling artifact? Thanks all!
