The insulators belonged to an old retired lineman and I had been talking to his daughter since last November about the collection. It was a 6 to 7 hour trip to the town where the insulators were and my plans to view the collection had been spoiled numerous times by ice storms or other bad weather or my work schedule. The gentleman was 96 years old and I was looking forward to talking to him, but unfortunately he passed away in February. Well, I finally got to view the insulators and purchased the whole lot this Saturday. I will be posting a few pictures over the next few days. This picture shows most of the collection still boxed up as I have pulled only a few power pieces out. In view is an aqua Lynchburg CD 306 and another blue glass power piece that I would later discover to be a CD 247. I didn't know what the CD 247 was at the time I purchased the collection. Both of them are VNM. The Mickey is a bubbly Hemi blue and is mint. To the right of the Mickey is a baby Hewlett with its hardware. |
