The cast lug wheels, were most often used in West Texas, New Mexico, and other places, where rubber tires didn't fare well, with thorns and sharp rocks. Could also be ordered with rubber tire rims, however, sometimes a long wait. Rubber in that period prior to World War II, was in short supply, and most often rationed.
