I believe this photo was taken in the early 1960s. Shown is a DC-7 that was part of the American Airlines fleet. It was well recognized and respected in the aircraft industry as the fastest piston-powered airplane in the world. This craft proudly inaugurated (not sure of the exact date) the first non-stop civilian service from coast-to-coast (US) in both directions.
