Note the sign that is mounted over this rolling-stock dining spot correctly depicts "Drive Inn". Opposed to the "Drive In" theatres that many of us boomers also fondly recall as we cruised in our 50s and 60s automobiles. Photograph taken in a small town in Wisconsin around 1956. Looking at this photograph, one can just about smell the sweet aroma of french fries and hearing background radios with "Woo-Woo Ginsberg's" voice, radio jingles of the time.... Besides insulators, open-wire, etc., I am very happy that I came into this world when these things depicting the great days of Americana were around to be enjoyed ;-) |
