There were recent discussions on ICON about ramshorn insulators being found in Utah. While most were specimens of Brooks' 1867 patent, a single specimen of the side screw or side shank Brooks ramshorn was found in the late 1990's in the possession of a resident of Northern Utah where it reportedly was first discovered. It was acquired by Ron & Joe Souza. There are only two other known specimens. One is in the Smithsonian and can be seen at: http://www.nia.org/si/Objects/222697.html The other is in my collection. A photo of that one is at: http://www.insulators.info/articles/early/brook70.htm |
