On the right is a pole with a very early electric distribution transformer (for converting higher voltages for consumer use). Below is a nice looking gooseneck style street light with a two-sidepin telephone circuit. Photo taken around 1905.

As an added note...I really appreciate everyone's support within ICON as I have contributed vintage photos, etc., periodically during 2007. This marks the 40th year of my visual presence in the insulator hobby...before 1967 I thought I was the only person who collected such things. I get as much of a thrill sharing information as I do collecting insulators and making great friends ;-) Soon after my first correspondence with other collectors (in early 1967) I began contributing to Western Collector and Old Bottle Magazine on a regular basis. Although I no longer write monthly insulator columns I truly get a thrill from sharing what I have and know about insulators here on ICON, in correspondence, other related sites, etc.

Please look forward to much more of the same!

Wishing all a great 2008!

Sincerely,

Joe Maurath, Jr.
