This Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) switch station is on OR. Hwy 6 near Gales Creek, OR. The 120,000 volt line runs west from the major BPA Keeler Sub. to Forest Grove and serves municipal Forest Grove Light & Power. It then runs N.W. to this switch area known as the "Timber Tap". The branch to the left in the photo continues west to Tillamook and serves the Tillamook Peoples Utilitiy District. The branch to the right goes to Timber, Oregon to a substation serving West Oregon Electric Co-op, Vernonia, OR. The line was built in the early 1940's and still has many pyrex suspension disk insulators still in use. The following photos show some of the pyrex insulators in service.
