This is a new steel pole on the Bonneville Power Administration/Tillamook PUD 120kV shared pole line east of Tillamook Oregon. I mentioned in a previous photo of this line section that BPA tries to maintain the "wishbone" crossarm formation along this line, rather than just put up line post insulators on the pole sides as a replacement, which is common with most electric utilities. The wishbone crossarms are all steel but they are using the modern polymer suspension insulators....or "rubber duckies" which really are a much improved insulator, both in lightness of weight and insulation factor. Let's face it....this is the insulator of the future! |
