I posted an email a year ago regarding this automobile tail light. We dug this last summer in Pennsylvania, in a dirt basement crawlspace. It appears to be a hanging tail light for an automobile (not a carriage). It is embossed:

Yankee American Auto Lamp Co Pat'D 18?? New York

It hangs by a ring on top & has a dark ruby-red shade. Made of bronze or oxidized copper.

Does anyone have any information on this? Has anyone ever seen a similar example? I thought the sharp & experienced minds of ICON might know something about this, or at least point me in the right direction. All search engines & university research services have failed to return any useful information.
