Comm NIA 26th NIA 1995 Light Cornflower Blue BE 010 This commemorative was issued for the occasion of the 26th annual National Insulator Association Convention held July 14-16, 1995 in Marlborough, MA and is embossed such on the base. The dome is embossed 'Yankee Pole Cat Insulator Club' with their logo in the middle. Only 529 of this style were produced. Initiated by Frank Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1970 following the first national swap meet for insulators, this replica of the threadless CD 736 "Pilgrim Hat" has become one of the most popular souvenirs in the insulator hobby. His initials, 'FM' are embossed in the top of the pinhole. The May, 1999 issue of Crown Jewels of the Wire has an excellent informative article written by Kevin Lawless about the NIA commemoratives. It lists all variations and production numbers. The National Insulator Association Convention commemorative insulator is now produced by John and Carol McDougald. MINT! $20.75 inv00-446 |
