Photo taken in Bellingham, WA c.1962. Note the overhead open wire draped from *building-to-building* from the structure on the left. Just like something you would see in 1880s-1910s photos. However this picture was taken in the early 1960s.

A fellow collector and great friend (still in the hobby) got started collecting insulators via one of these old crotchety building-top set-ups sometime in the1960s. He was a meter reader for a nearby electric utility. Somehow he ended up on a similarly looking building's roof while on the job (maybe that's where the meters were?) and spotted a gourgeous purple CD 200 California. He was amazed by its beauty and without wires attached he unscrewed it from its arm's length perch. He was "hooked" ever since !

I had the pleasure of meeting this top notch fellow around 1970 and 1972. A visit from WA to MA...about 3,000 miles away! This gent has been a well respected collector with five-stars-all-the-way and has accumulated an amazing collection.

Brent, I'm sure you know who this chap is...I guess this is one you got beat out of :-)
