I can remember when these cars were a dime-a-dozen upon the streets. Now you hardly ever see any tooling about! These autos were famous for their longevity (accumulating over 200,000 miles on the clock was not unusual). The original VW "beetle" apparently was discontinued (at least for US import) about 1979. This auto's styling was conceived during the WW2 years.
