Today I finally broke my slump of having no good luck of finding anything that was good without paying big bucks for it, lol. I had the chance to go with my dad to a locla steam power show that was about 1.5 hours away, in Blyth, Ontario. The only way my dad convinced me to go along was to tell me they had an antique market, and right away, I was there! Well when we showed up, he went to look at some of the farm equipment, and I went in search of the antique market. I found it fairly easily, and the first of about 15 vendors there had a lot of nice junk, which is good for a bottle/insulator collector. He had a tarp covered with about 100 bottles, and had a box of insulators as well. I looked through the insulators, and noticed that a lot of them were lavender/lgt. Lavender, vertical bar/Diamond 102s. I picked out a few good condition ones, hoping they would be cheap, and this would give me my fix. Once I get to his truck, I notice 2 crates of more insulators. Right away, I see a No.2 Hemingray tramp, which is a CD 201. I walk a little closer, and also see a yellow green Brookfield/New York SDP 102. The I see a Dwight Pattern CD 143, but notice that it has a few extra letters before the word Dwight, that's about the time I clued in that sitting embossing side up was a GNW Dwight! It has a small flake on the front base, but that's about it for damage other then some small dings. I got it for about 3 dollars the way I figure, so it was a good buy! I also found another vendor who I was able to buy a N.E Canada CD 102 with MLOD, which is something I see very few of in Ontario, and also a threaded innner skirt Diamond D 154, both for 5 bucks. I came home with a few bottles, and some good insulators, and have had good luck at flea markets the last 2 weekends between bottles and insulators, so I am VERY hapy with my hobbies right now. Here is a group shot of the finds, check out the next picture for a single shot of the GNW Dwight. |
