Here is a very serene photograph typical of small towns here in New England during winter about a century ago. There are some open wire lines in this picture notably on the right. I am pretty sure these are telephone subscriber lines. You can betcha the sweet smell of wood burning stoves with the solitude certainly made for the ultimate in peaceful ambiance when this photo was taken!
