I took this photo around 1980 of some odd looking porcelain insulators on a Milwaukee Road R.R. open wire line pole in Maple Valley, Washington. I still can't figure out what U-number they are and why they are on this pole along with some plastic Porters and some clear 42's or 45's. Unless the line crew had to get the job done right away and used whatever insulators were on hand at the time. The Milwaukee Road is now abandoned and this pole is likely a goner also. I haven't been up that way in quite a spell! Just think! The famous Olympian Hiawatha high speed electric passenger train used to speed right by these insulators on it's way from Chicago to Seattle!
