Here's a really cool baby Cordeaux porcelain insulator. It has the classic salt glaze found on the older late 1880-1900 era insulators made in England. It measures a mere 2 3/8 inches wide by 3 5/8 inches tall. Unmarked. This is a U-1521 variant as the size is close enough. The crown on my example is sloped more dramatically but not sufficient enough to warrant a new number. Still I'd say this is a scarce example as I can only recall seeing a couple in some of the bigger collections out there. Note how small it is compared to the common sized early white glazed porcelain (same time period) on the left in the photo. By the way this example (on the left) is a common style but with very uncommon marking: Patent (Crown) Jobson Brothers Dudley, England (skirt). |
