Formerly pole 9 on my 2 wire line. I had to get creative to access this one! As you can see, the slough (which I have nicknamed devils' lake after the lake in North Dakota) has risen considerably this year and has never been this high since my family bought the farm over 80 years ago. The shoreline should be about 30 feet on the other side of this pole; not 30 feet on this side! The water is about 2 feet deep at the pole. To access the top of the pole safely, I built a platform on top of my hay rack which is a wooden platform 8 feet wide, 14 feet long and about 3 1/2 feet high on 4 wheels and is towed by a tractor to collect small square bales of hay. I backed the rack into the water up to the pole with a small tractor.
