Photo taken in Wells, ME...right near the beach. Note the telephone open wire...I recall crossarms close together as shown in the foreground here in MA as a kid. FYI...Wells, ME was NET&T Co. territory. Why they were installed so close together I don't know! Also shown is a really nice street series porcelain head streetlight (also in the foreground...with the undersupport atop the pipe arm instead of in the typically-installed beneath position. Added features are the vintage electric distribution lines and a two-pin fire alarm circuit. All of the line architecture seen was upgraded as a result of devestating hurricanes in 1954 and 1960 along with the Great Blizzard of 1978. Enjoy ;-) |
