My dad worked for POSTAL TELEGRAPH back in the late 30's and early 40's. Here is a shot taken in 1938 showing the crew he worked with. Check out the gear.... especially the hats. No such thing as a hard hat. They cleared the lines with hand saws and axes. Chainsaws were not available and bucket trucks were not invented yet. They worked hard to earn a living and were proud of the job the did.
