Check out that vintage gasoline pump and those old-time advertising signs in the background! A petro-collector's dream (and the gals looked great too!). As a kid I *always* had my nose glued to the rear windows of my parents' sedan in the 1950s gawking at all kinds of "street furniture". Gas station signs were among some of my roadside favorites. Collecting/pursuing insulators and street light stuff won out upon becoming an adult. I never collected any petro-collectibles thru the years other than vintage maps. In the 1970s/early 80s I collected and restored several late 1940s-1950s automobiles. My oldest model was a 1949 Buick Super 4-door sedan. Completed in 1978, it was used in the "Brinks' Job" movie released later that year starring Peter Falk. |
