From the mould series known as the "thin print" variety of Canadian Pacific Ry Co. CD 143s comes this excelling example in light green. This mould is one of the more desirable in the CAN PAC area, and the swirling evident in the dome of this piece only improves the desirability! The embossing style, as listed in the price guide, is the [060], and the colour is light green. The condition of this piece is better than most, as this style dates from the late 1880s, and, having been around for that long, tends to be chipped quite well. There is a 1 1/4" base chip under the "RY" embossing, which is visible, but only for a short segment of that 1 1/4" length. There is one other 3/8" flat base chip, which is quite insignificant, on the rear base, and a 1/8" fleabite on the front dome. The real exceptional quality of this piece is the 900 degree swirl of steam, graphite, and bubbles which runs all around the dome, from the very top of the pinhole, to about halfway to the wire groove. I'm asking $12 U.S. plus shipping for this unique piece of Canadian history, with a sampling of Carbon Dioxide gas from the 1880s! I accept personal cheques from any member of ICON, or any one I've dealt with before. I can do $10 plus shipping if it will move the piece to a better place! All the best! |
