Recently we had the opportunity to tour a restored WW2 bomber At the St. Cloud, MN airport. I have an interest since my Uncle was a crew member during the war. I have a picture of his crew that he gave me back when I was a teenager. It is a beautifully restored plane. The plastic nose cone is where the bomb site is located, the bombadier sat there when they dropped the bombs. Generally the bombadier was an officer, but this was not always the case. I would imagine a shortage of crewman would dictate that. |
