More of the pride & joy of Canadian insulators, for your consideration are three unusual Hamilton Base (rounded-base) Canadian Pacific Ry Co CD 143s with the split embossing. The first in the set of three (on the far left), is the ordinary aqua colouration in the [010] embossing with no periods. This one has a burst of carbon in the form of a symmetrical swirling pattern in the dome at the very top of the pinhole, and a few little milk/amber wisps in the skirt. The damage consists of one 1/4" ping on the front dome, and one 3/16" flat flake off the upper wire ridge above the first "N" in CANADIAN. The second (in the middle) is the same embossing style, but in light lime green colouration. This one is in reasonable shape with only a crack around the top of the pinhole, spreading approximately 200 degrees basically directly above where the embossing runs. This is the sort of crack you don't notice right away, though, so still an excellent piece! There are also some carbon and milk swirls throughout the glass, and naturally, bubbles. The last in the group is probably the hardest to find - the low wire groove variant round base 143 is an unusual bird - likely made at the same plant as the other varieties of round base (in Hamilton, Ontario), but in different colourations, and much smaller numbers - no one is sure why. The dome on this piece is full of milky/bubbly swirls, and at least a few good sized bubbles. The only negative on this piece is a flat flake from the wire groove in the rear to the base - exactly one inch... 'tall', and approximately 9/16" wide at the widest. This embossing style is the [165], though that listing does not show the mould line separating the embossing between "CANADIAN" and "PACIFIC". I'm asking $12 for the group of localized historical Canadian pieces - made less than 2 hours' drive from my house. I accept personal cheques from any member of ICON or any one I've dealt with before. All the best! |
