Lotsa open-wire here, friends! Insulators and crossarms all over the place! Note the cool pole line architecture on each side of the street which primarily consisted of telephone circuits, likely subscriber lines. Also have a look at the pole (or tree??) on the left towards the background with four 10-pin "alley" arms protruding from it so that the wires could snugly be strung below the subsequent treeline. Very probably one could just about read the lettering upon the insulators here as they were mounted almost within reaching distance!
