Here is one of the tougher eggs to find for the threadless enthusiast. Light aqua 701.8 National Road flattop, that while has some chips and cracks, is overall in pretty good condition. Most of the Confederate eggs seen are dark olive black, etc...relatively few seen in aqua or lighter colours. This piece came from Virginia, when it was found or dug I don't know, but I have left all the wire rust stains and age patina on this as it adds to it's character and authenticity. The WG lips have 3 small chips and 1 ~1" long flat chip to the lip, the base has no chips but there are 2 stress fractures in the meaty part of the insulator's body to the base that I can see. This is an excellent specimen of an exceptionally valuable and scarce threadless. The repair that can be done is easy but....that might take away from it's historical values a bit. Book on this is $2,000 range. My price...$1,200 signed, sealed, and delivered. More pix from all angles on request. I have decided to reduce this to $900.00,THAT's a heck of a deal! If it doesn't sell for this price, well, it doesn't eat anything and will look great next to my Harloe claw...;-) |
