A rarely seen or offered color in this early Hemingray pony style. The book calls this a [060] with the skirt embossing. I have not see the new price guide, but my old price guide shows a value of $1000 - $1250 for the only purple listing, referred to as "light purple". It is a decidedly underwhelming color when compared to a Tatum or Denver, but amongst knowing 1871 collectors, this is great color. Held in a white bowl of water to show what is going on inside the glass better, the insulator is largely a silver-grey color with a thin "sock" of rather potent purple pulled over the pinhole, giving it an overall light sca color. It is filled with light fizzy champagne bubbles, making it very bright and sparkly. A nice teardrop shaped bubble is located nicely right below the embossing as a bonus. Condition is close to perfect, with only a peck on the rear skirt to mention. A rare opportunity to own a piece that few specialists have in their 1871 collections. This one is coming directly out of my collection. $900 post paid |
