CREB CD 145 in what I'd call brite blue. Front crown: 'W. Brookfield / 45 Cliff St. / N.Y.' Back crown: '1' over 'Pat. Jan. 25th 1870.' Lettering is light but readable. The color is a true blue - I don't believe this is the Brookfield CREB cornflower blue shade, but more like a 'windex' blue. It is NOT the typical blue aqua Brookfield. In a line of green and standard aqua CREB Brookfield beehives it stands out noticeably. It's the exact same hue as the more well known blue American Ins. Co. base embossed beehive. I have about given up trying to capture its color with a camera, none of the images show it accurately, so I've photographed it next to a few better known blue-aqua colors; a Whitall Tatum in the standard WT blue aqua, an ice blue CD 125 W.U. 5 1871 Pat., and a bubbly aqua N.E.G.M. Co. signal without any of the green typically in them. Condition of this piece is vnm. It has about 2 or 3 trivial pecks on the dome is all. There is a (manufacturing) hairlip on the skirt rim area (back half) and a small partially open surface bubble located between the Brookfield and Cliff St. markings. $225. If you're not perfectly satisfied with this you may return it of course. |
