Typical "downtown" view of Americana from the mid-1910's through the 1930's with globe-top street light fixtures. The ones shown were of a pretty revolutionary style of the time. The lamps were tungsten incandescents (then-new technologically, also) within four "lolly-pop" milk glass globes which were mounted on the four short arms of the ornate cast iron posts. With an added (5th) globe/fixture often atop the center of the lamp post as you can see here! |
